vCheck for Exchange

image_thumb3One of the main areas I redesigned in vCheck 6 was the new plugin concept, In my mind this was a nice HTML output which could be used for more than just vSphere checks, the plugins could potentially be any product which has a PowerShell snap-in or module, and even some which don’t :)

Shortly after the release I was contacted by Phil Randal who had done just this, he has taken the vCheck framework and written some Exchange 2010 plugins, this now turns the vCheck report into a Exchange monitoring report too. Awesome stuff !

Now you can have a daily email with your Exchange 2010 details and issues.

Phil has added 6 initial Exchange 2010 plugins which add some great details, these include:

  • Basic Server Information
  • Database Statistics
  • Database Status
  • Public Folder Statistics
  • Mailboxes larger than x amount of MB
  • Mailboxes with deleted items above x amount of MB

So if you have Exchange 2010 then be sure to download this version of vCheck and give it a go, after all it doesn’t cost you a thing and could save you work in the future. Make sure you thank Phil for his hard work on Twitter, his account is @philrandal

    Hi Alan,

Another great script!! Has anyone configured this for Exchange multi tenancy because different scripts are required for mailboxes etc.. due to permissions..

    Thanks!

Hi – great work on vCheck AND vCheck Exchange, both very useful! — for vCheck Exchange, what version of 2010 was it designed/tested for – i’ve recently upgraded from SP1 RU4 to SP2 RU3 and it seems to have stopped working – all the servers are not at the same SP yet (need to do the HUB and DB servers), just wanted confirmation that Exchange 2010 SP2 is supported/works :)

    Thanks!

  • Hi there
Whenever I run the script it only comes with the table of plugins saying enabled is True – no data.
Any advice on how to get this going?
I have been using the vCheck script without issue and would love to have that exchange data on hand.

What would be nice is if there is also a check on which role is installed on which server. Would that be easy to code into a plugin?

  • I am very happy to found vhcek for exchange. It is perfect to use to get a good overview. I installed it two days ago and I have been doing some testruns as my own account having very high permissions in Exchange and also on the exchangeservers. But what permissions do I realy need to run the script including all plugins without any problems. Does someone have any good knowledge about this.

I am new to vCheck for Exchange and am interested if it is possible to only report on specfic servers. I work for a global organization with global exchange deployment however I am only concerned with my Exchange 2010 servers in my region, CAS / HUB and Mailbox servers. Is there a way to specific which servers I would like to analyze. Thanks in advance. VCheck and VCheck for exchange are great products.
